French Riviera Open 2026: the tournament gets under way tomorrow at the Mouratoglou Academy
The French Riviera Open 2026 gets under way on Tuesday 29 September at the Mouratoglou Academy in Biot. From 9am, the first matches will launch the 10th edition of the international wheelchair tennis tournament, with debuts, comebacks and rematches among the stories to watch on opening day.
The draws are set, the order of play is out: it’s time for tennis.
Five courts will be in action from 9am as the French Riviera Open 2026 officially begins.
Ymanitu Silva vs Leandro Pena: an Île de Ré rematch
The opening match already brings a rematch.
The Centre Court programme begins at 9am with an all-Brazilian clash between Ymanitu Silva and Leandro Pena.
The pair met just a few days ago at the Île de Ré Open, where Pena came through in three sets. One week later, Silva already has the opportunity to turn the tables in Biot.
Imane Toubal makes her French Riviera Open debut
Opening day will also mark Imane Toubal’s first appearance at the French Riviera Open.
The Algerian will face Turkey’s Zeliha Aksak, not before 11.30am on Court 4.
It will be a first taste of one of the international wheelchair tennis circuit’s major events for Toubal.
Emmanuelle Mörch returns to the international circuit
Another story to follow on Tuesday is the return of Emmanuelle Mörch to international competition following a maternity break.
The French player will make her competitive return at the French Riviera Open against Great Britain’s Abbie Breakwell, not before 11.30am on Court 3.
A special moment as Mörch returns to top-level international wheelchair tennis in Biot.
A major first for Charline Mayer in the Quad draw
At 9am on Court 14, Charline Mayer will reach another milestone as she makes her first appearance at this level of competition.
The French player will take on Spain’s Roberto Romo Martin in her opening match in the Quad draw.
Stefan Olsson makes his long-awaited return
One of the biggest names to watch during this 10th edition is Stefan Olsson.
The Swede returns to competition at the French Riviera Open after receiving a wild card from the tournament organisers.
His comeback begins against Great Britain’s Ben Bartram, not before 2pm on Court 3.
It will be a much-anticipated return for one of the leading figures in international wheelchair tennis.
Six days of world-class wheelchair tennis in Biot
Tuesday’s opening matches begin six days of international wheelchair tennis at the Mouratoglou Academy, culminating in the finals on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October.
