French Riviera Open 2026: semi-final line-ups confirmed as top seeds deliver
The men’s and women’s singles semi-final line-ups are now set at the French Riviera Open 2026. The top three men’s seeds all produced convincing performances on Thursday at the Mouratoglou Academy, while French hopes suffered a setback with the singles exits of Stéphane Houdet and Ksénia Chasteau. In the women’s draw, Jinte Bos and Luoyao Guo will meet in an unexpected semi-final. On Friday, the tournament enters its decisive stages with the singles semi-finals, Quad quarter-finals and the first final of this 10th edition.
Men’s favourites safely through
The top three seeds all booked their places in the men’s singles semi-finals in convincing fashion.
Martin de la Puente, the No.1 seed, ended the impressive run of South Africa’s Alwande Sikhosana, who had knocked out Casey Ratzlaff the previous day. The Spaniard came through 6-2, 6-4.
Gordon Reid gave Dutchman Ruben Spaargaren little opportunity to find his way into the match, winning 6-2, 6-2, while Argentina’s Gustavo Fernandez, the No.2 seed, defeated Spain’s Daniel Caverzaschi 6-1, 6-2.
Three commanding performances send the leading contenders into the final four.
End of the singles road for Stéphane Houdet
It was a much more difficult afternoon in singles for Stéphane Houdet.
A finalist at the French Riviera Open in 2025 and the No.4 seed this year, the French No.1 was unable to find the answers against the Netherlands’ Tom Egberink, who secured a convincing 6-0, 6-3 victory.
A disappointing result for Houdet and the home crowd at the Mouratoglou Academy, who had hoped to see the Frenchman return to the semi-finals.
His French Riviera Open is far from over, however: the defending doubles champion remains in contention to retain his crown.
Jinte Bos stops Ksénia Chasteau
There was further disappointment for the home crowd in the women’s singles draw as Ksénia Chasteau bowed out.
The French No.1 and world No.7 was unable to produce her best tennis against an enterprising Jinte Bos, who took her chances confidently to secure a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
The Dutchwoman moves into the semi-finals, where she will face Luoyao Guo.
The Chinese player progressed following the retirement of Aniek van Koot through illness, after the No.2 seed had won the opening set. It sets up a Bos–Guo semi-final few would have predicted when the draw was made.
De Groot and De Greef safely into the semi-finals
The top half of the women’s draw followed a more familiar pattern.
Diede de Groot produced another strong performance against Colombia’s Angélica Bernal, while Lizzy de Greef also secured her place in the final four with victory over China’s Zhenzhen Zhu.
The two Dutch players will meet on Friday for a place in the French Riviera Open final.
Quad singles quarter-finals – and the first final – take centre stage on Friday
The Quad singles draw will be one of Friday’s highlights, with all four quarter-finals on the schedule.
Only one unseeded player has made it into the last eight: American Andrew Bogdanov, who defeated young Australian Benjamin Wenzel 6-4, 6-3.
He will face another young Australian, Jin Woodman, who booked his place in the quarter-finals by defeating Switzerland’s Giuliano Carnovali.
Elsewhere, the clash between Sam Schröder and Andy Lapthorne promises to be one of the matches to watch, while Gonzalo Lazarte and Francisco Cayulef will battle for another semi-final place.
The final quarter-final will see No.2 seed Ahmet Kaplan take on Great Britain’s Gregory Slade.
Friday will also feature the first final of this 10th edition of the French Riviera Open.
In the Quad doubles, Sam Schröder and Jin Woodman will face Ahmet Kaplan and Andy Lapthorne for the title, with all four players also involved in the singles quarter-finals during the day.
Chasteau bounces back in doubles
After her singles defeat, Ksénia Chasteau responded in style in the women’s doubles alongside Luoyao Guo.
The French-Chinese pairing raced to a 6-0, 6-1 victory to reach the semi-finals, keeping Chasteau firmly involved in the tournament.
They will face Wend and Oosthuizen, who progressed following the withdrawal of No.1 seeds Diede de Groot and Aniek van Koot.
In the other half of the draw, Lizzy de Greef and Jinte Bos had to dig deep against Angélica Bernal and Macarena Cabrillana, eventually prevailing in a super tie-break to continue their run.
Houdet and Laget fight back to keep title defence alive
The day ultimately ended on a much brighter note for Stéphane Houdet.
Following his singles disappointment, the Frenchman returned to court alongside Guilhem Laget for a fiercely contested men’s doubles encounter against No.4 seeds Ben Bartram and Daniel Rodrigues.
The French pair had to dig deep, coming from behind before eventually snatching victory in the super tie-break.
The win keeps Houdet’s title defence alive: despite his singles exit, the reigning French Riviera Open doubles champion remains in contention to retain his crown.
Final places – and the first title – on the line on Friday
The French Riviera Open now enters its decisive stages at the Mouratoglou Academy in Biot.
Friday will feature the men’s and women’s singles semi-finals alongside the Quad singles quarter-finals and the closing stages of the doubles draws. The first title of the tournament will also be decided, with Schröder/Woodman facing Kaplan/Lapthorne in the Quad doubles final.
Matches can be watched live at the Mouratoglou Academy or via the French Riviera Open YouTube channel.
