SEMI-FINAL LINE-UPS CONFIRMED AT FRENCH RIVIERA OPEN

The semi-final line-ups are confirmed at the French Riviera Open.

World No. 1 Niels VINK defeated American David Wagner (world No. 5) 6-2 6-0 in the Quads. He will meet Ahmet KAPLAN (world no. 8) tomorrow, who upset Andy LAPTHORNE 6-2 3-1 (ret.).

At the bottom of the draw, recent Roland-Garros winner Guy SASSON (Israel) had no trouble against Diego PEREZ (world no. 10) 6-1 6-1. Brazilian Ymanitu SILVA rounded off the last four after beating his compatriot Leandro PENA 5/7 6/3 6/0.

In the women’s draw, the top four seeds all lived up to their billing, with Diede DE GROOT and Aniek VAN KOOT winning convincingly over KG MONTJANE and Dana MATHEWSON, respectively.

Both the matches were hotly contested in the lower section, with Jiske GRIFFIOEN emerging from a very close game against Zhenzhen ZHU 6-3 4-6 6-3 in the clay gusts. As for Yui KAMIJI, she secured the decisive points at the end of the sets against Ziying WANG 7-5 7-5.

Finally, on the men’s side, the surprise came from Gordon REID, who beat Gustavo FERNANDEZ 4-6 7-6 6-3. He will meet Japan’s Tokito ODA in tomorrow’s semi-final.

In the top half of the draw, world No. 1 Alfie HEWETT continues, defeating Stéphane HOUDET of France. He will meet Martin DE LA PUENTE in the semi-finals.

But the day will be dominated by the doubles finals.

In the quad draw, the final will pit Andy LAPTHORNE and Niels VINK against Ahmet KAPLAN and Heath DAVIDSON.

In the women’s draw, live on Canal + Sport from 2 pm, the final will be between the Netherlands’ DE GROOT and VAN KOOT against China’s ZHU and LI.

Next up, the men’s doubles final will be a 100% Dutch affair as EGBERINK-SCHEFFERS take on the young SPAARGAREN – TER HOFTE.
