THE NIGHT BEFORE…

Biot, June 10, 2024

The 8th French Riviera Open will start tomorrow, Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the Mouratoglou Academy.
An intense competition, with some of the world’s best players in all three categories.

Alfie Hewett (world No. 1, GBR), Tokito Oda (world No. 2, JAP, winner of Roland-Garros 2024) and Gustavo Fernandez (world No. 3, ARG, reigning FRO champion) will headline the men’s draw, which will also feature France’s Stéphane Houdet, Frédéric Cattanéo, Guilhem Laget, Geoffrey Jasiak and Gaëtan Mainguy, as well as local player Laurent Giammartini (WC).

Diede De Groot (world no. 1, NED), winner of another French Open and defending champion of the French Riviera Open, will be hard to dethrone. Still, Yui Kamiji (no. 2, JAP) and Zhenzhen Zhu (no. 5, CHN), a finalist at Roland Garros, will be in ambush. On the French side, Pauline Déroulède, Ksenia Chasteau, Emmanuelle Mörch and Charlotte Fairbank will be playing for Paralympic qualification, while Zoé Maras completes the field.

In the Quads, Niels Vink (world no. 1, NED) will be looking to retain his FRO23 crown and avenge last week’s defeat by Guy Sasson (no. 3, ISR), a recent winner at Roland-Garros. Justin Michel will be carrying France’s hopes for the first time at this level of the competition.

The finals will be broadcast live on Canal + Sport on Saturday, 15, and Sunday, June 16.
